James’ design inspiration – Q+M

James’ design inspiration

James here, taking a blog post to appreciate the work of Louise Fili.

Louise Fili always nails it when it comes to elegant type treatments, and I admire the way she uses calligraphic flourish and pattern-like illustration to bring beauty to her work.

In my design education I was surrounded by minimalism and modernism, with limited exposure to custom typography and effective decorative illustration. I am always fascinated by how these techniques change the entire feeling of a piece, and envious of designers who can integrate them so effortlessly.

I hope everyone takes a moment to reflect on their art and design idols today!
